in aftermath of world war i, newly independent countries of lithuania , poland found in dispute on vilnius region through 2 conflicts known polish–lithuanian war , Żeligowski s mutiny. these conflicts resulted in creation of short-lived republic of central lithuania in 1920. disputed election in 1922 incorporated territory second polish republic through annexation.
as tverečius geographically part of vilnius region, , subsequently included in republic of central lithuania, town became polish territory in march 1922: tverečius found incorporated twerecz, part of Święciany (lithuanian: Švenčionys) powiat (county) in newly created (1926) wilno voivodeship, northeastern-most province in poland.
