History Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport







hasanuddin airport, named kadieng flying field, built in 1935 government of netherlands indies, approximately 22 kilometers north of makassar. airfield runway grass-sized 1600m x 45m (runway 08-26) inaugurated on 27 september 1937 commercial flight singapore, douglas aircraft d2/f6 operated knilm (koninklijke nederlands indische luchtvaart maatschappij). in 1942, government of japan expanded field using pow labor , renamed field mandai. in 1945, dutch built new runway.


in 1950, indonesia s department of public works, section flying field, took on field, , in 1955 transferred civil aviation, directorate general air transportation, extended runway 2345m x 45m , renamed airport air mandai. in 1980, 13–31 runway built—2500m x 45m; in same year name changed air port hasanuddin. in 1985 port of hasanuddin air changed name hasanuddin airport.


on 3 march 1987, management of airport transferred directorate general of air transport perum angkasa pura i, based on government regulation no. 1 / 1987 of 9 january 1987. on 1 january 1993 company name changed pt (persero) angkasa pura i. on 30 october 1994, hasanuddin airport, international airport in accordance decision of minister of transportation, km number 61/1994 dated 7 january 1995, inaugurated governor level regional head of south sulawesi province. 28 march 1995 marked flight malaysia airlines directly kuala lumpur hasanuddin, followed silk air flight singapore changi airport. since 1990, hasanuddin airport has been used embarkation / disembarkation point hajj pilgrimages jeddah.


hasanuddin airport serves eastern indonesia area , south sulawesi province. on 20 august 2008 new terminal opened, replacing old terminal subsequently transferred indonesian air force.


on 8 january 2010, airport inaugurated newly built 3100 m runway (3/21) commercial flights. opening of 2nd runway, hasanuddin became second commercial airport in indonesia has 2 runways, other being soekarno–hatta international airport in jakarta. 1 out of 2 airports in indonesia include cross runways, budiarto airport near serpong serves flying school.


the airport handles 3 wide-body aircraft per day - 1 747-400 medan , jeddah , 2 airbus a330-200s jakarta. local government plans extend runway 3100m 3500m accommodate larger aircraft such airbus a340, , pending local clearance.


in october 2014 airport implemented silent boarding, means no announcements made until final boarding call.
