in 1947, ganz works nationalised , in 1949 became independent , 6 big companies came existence, e.g. ganz transformer factory. in 1959, ganz wagon , machine factory merged mÁvag locomotive , machine factory under name of ganz-mÁvag locomotive, wagon , machine works. of products of works, outstanding results born in field of manufacture of diesel motor-railcars , motor trains. traditional products included tramcars well, which, first of all, tramway network of budapest provided works. in meantime foundry workshop closed down.


in 1974, locomotive , wagon works merged under name of railway vehicle factory , machine construction branch of went through significant developments. production of industrial , apartment house lifts became new branch. ganz-mÁvag took on lot of smaller plants in 1960s , 1970s , product range extended. besides others, increased bridge-building capacity; made iron structures several tisza bridges, erzsébet bridge in budapest, public road bridges in yugoslavia , several industrial halls.


the ganz shipyard experienced stirring times during 4 decades following nationalisation: in course of period 1100 ship units produced, number of completed seagoing ships 240 , of floating cranes 663. result of great economic , social crises of 1980s ganz-mÁvag had reorganised. company transformed 7 independent works , 3 joint ventures.


in 1989, british company telfos holding gained majority of shares in ganz railway vehicle factory co. ltd. name of company changed ganz-hunslet co. ltd. in course of 1991 , 1992, austrian company jenbacher werke obtained 100% of company s shares , consequently railway vehicle factory member of international railway vehicle manufacturing group, jenbacher transport systeme. @ present, ganz electric works, under name of ganz-ansaldo member of italian industrial giant, ansaldo. ganz works transformed holdings. ganz-danubius wound in 1994. ganz electric meter factory in gödöllő became member of international schlumberger group.
