the philippine navy received first batch of 3 taiwanese-built multi-purpose attack craft (mpac), similar swedish combat boat 90. these presented during 111th anniversary of philippine navy in may 2009.


these mpacs around 15 meters long , equipped water jet system. have maximum speed of 40 knots (74 km/h) , reach around 300 nautical miles (560 km) while traveling on transit speed of 30 knots (56 km/h). made of welded aluminum , can carry 16 equipped soldiers , 4 crew members or payload of 2 tons. ships armed 1 50-caliber machine gun , 2 7.62mm machine guns.

a contract signed between department of national defense , hyundai heavy industries on october 24, 2016, based on notice of award provided earlier. delivery of frigates expected completed 2020.
