st. patrick s in gothic style, simple exterior highly ornate interior. doorways, windows, organ, , altar conform architectural design. bell tower 185 feet (56 m) tall; nineteenth century aerial views of new orleans painted roof. interior of nave 85 feet (26 m) tall. slender columns support fan vaulting of ceiling, particularly elaborate above altar, incorporating sixteen stained glass windows in half-dome. 3 large paintings above altar depict, left right: saint patrick, transfiguration of jesus, , jesus christ pulling saint peter sea.
