the main-lahn railway opened through nied in 1879. in 1888, station opened in independent village @ intersection rödelheimer straße (now oeserstraße). small station building insufficient , replaced in 1915 larger, prestigious building north-west of oeserstraße. @ establishment of rhine-main s-bahn, platforms moved southeastern side of oeserstraße , station building lost function. level crossing on oeserstraße replaced underpass in 1988.


the first covered bicycle rack in frankfurt established @ nied station in 1990; launched new concept of bike , ride promotion of combination of public transport , cycling in frankfurt. since april 2008, platforms have been equipped digital passenger information displays.
