the company established bedford lemere (born 1839, died 1911) in 1861, studio @ 147 strand, london 1867 1947. son henry (also known harry) bedford lemere (born 1865, died 1944) joined firm in 1881 , 1 of best known photographers, , principal person behind firm in heyday.


bedford lemere & co. leading english firm of architectural photographers between 1870 , 1930, , pioneered photography of new buildings. images captured use of new technologies such motor car, electric light , motion pictures , introduction of steel frame , reinforced concrete revolutionised architecture.


bedford lemere & co s client list wide-ranging; worked needed architectural photography: property companies, estate agents, decorators, businesses needing photographs of premises or house-owners wanted photographs of homes. bedford lemere & co photographed buildings notable architects; john norton (architect), matthew digby wyatt, ernest george, ernest george, harold peto, arthur blomfield, alfred waterhouse , edward blakeway anson designed winterfold house in surrey.


the firm particularly known photographs of cruise ship interiors, customers including canadian pacific line, cunard line, orient lines, peninsular , oriental steam navigation company, union-castle line , white star line; many of these in collection of national maritime museum in london.


the firm had premises in manchester between 1875 , 1877, , kept strong presence in north west , scotland 40 years. included working gillow’s of lancaster , s j waring & sons of liverpool, , subsequent waring & gillow firm of furnishers , decorators, established in 1897 following merger. bedford lemere went on photograph waring & gillow’s munitions factories during first world war.


henry bedford lemere received hood medal royal photographic society in 1941.


after closing studio @ 147 strand in 1947, firm moved 3 park lane, croydon. acquired archie handford ltd in 1967.

shanghai-style sweet , sour shrimp served on commercially produced guoba guōbā (锅巴; 鍋巴) eaten snack, used ingredient in dishes thick sauces, or served in soups , stews. guoba (鍋耙, 鍋巴, 锅巴, lit. pan adherents ), known mi guoba (米鍋耙, lit. rice guoba) chinese food ingredient consisting of scorched rice. traditionally guoba forms during boiling of rice on direct heat flame. results in formation of crust of scorched rice on bottom of wok or cooking vessel. scorched rice has firm , crunchy texture slight toasted flavour, , eaten snack. guoba used ingredient in many chinese dishes thick sauces, since bland taste of scorched rice takes on flavour of sauces. guoba served in soups , stews , prominently featured in szechuan cuisine. since demand guoba outstrips traditional production , modern ways of cooking rice (in electric rice cookers) not produce it, guoba has been commercially manufactured since late 20th century.
