in athletics events, cp7 competitors participate in t37/f37 classes. running form manifests if have limp. disability manifests less when running opposed walking.


cycling

people cerebral palsy eligible compete in cycling @ paralympic games. cp7 , cp8 may compete on bicycle in c4 class.


football

cp7 sportspeople eligible compete in association football in sport of cp football. cp7 players classified ft7.


when running, cp7 soccer players knee pickup not high able-bodied players , stride may shorter result of spasticity. lack of coordination may make difficult them accurate headers. level of disability such can mainstreamed , compete against able-bodied players.


cp footballers first required go through national level classification before being eligible international classification. first stage of international classification involves physical assessment. may involve classifiers medical experts. second stage involves observing footballer practing sport specific skills in non-competitive setting. third stage involves classifiers observing player in competition @ least 30 minutes. following that, classification panel assigns footballer class, may include not eligible.

swimming

cp7 swimmers classified in s7, s8, s9 or s10 because of hemiplegia , spasicity. less severe, closer s10.


because of neuromuscular nature of disability, have slower start times other people in classes. more interlock hands when underwater in strokes prevent hand drift, increases drag while swimming. s8 classified swimmers cp, able record long distances underwater. longest distances paralympic s8 swimmers can measure half of comparable olympic counters. attributed neuromuscular related drag issues. cp swimmers more efficient @ above water swimming underwater swimming.


cp7 swimmers tend have passive normalized drag in range of 0.6 0.8. puts them passive drag band of pdb6, pdb8, , pdb9.


cp7 swimmers experience swimmers shoulder, swimming related injury, @ rates similar able-bodied counterparts. when fatigued, asymmetry in stroke becomes problem swimmers in class. integrated classification system used swimming, swimmers cp compete against other disabilities, subject criticisms has been nature of cp greater exertion leads decreased dexterity , fine motor movements. puts competitors cp @ disadvantage when competing against people amputations not lose coordination result of exertion.

people cerebral palsy eligible compete @ elite level in number of other sports including wheelchair fencing, wheelchair basketball, table tennis, sledge hockey, powerlifting, rowing, sailing, shooting, archery, para-equestrian. can participate in cycling, compete in c4 class. in race running, cp7 may classified rr4. para-taekwondo sport open cp5, cp6, cp7 , cp8 class competitors. on, cp7 classification competed cp7 before different sport specific classification system developed.
