Language Matlatzinca people
the matlatzinca language part of oto-pamean subgroup of oto-manguean language family, includes otomi, mazahua, pame , chichimeca jonaz. linguistically term “matlatzinca” refers speakers of matlatzinca language. in ancient, historical , modern times, matlatzinca language spoken in toluca valley of central mexico, west of valley of mexico. matlatzinca language has 2 subgroups or dialects mutually unintelligible: 1 called ocuiltec or tlahuica , matlatzinca proper. while 1 language removed considered separate languages. matlatzinca severely endangered , spoken around 100, elderly people in san francisco oxtotilpa , ocuiltec/tlahuica spoken between 50-100 in ocuilan municipio in villages san juan atzingo , santa lucía del progreso.
