southwest portions of omaha, nebraska sustained significant damage early-morning tornado on june 8


as tornado moved more densely populated southern cook county, destroyed homes in richton park, before dissipating @ 6:30 pm cdt (2330 utc). @ approximately 6:32 pm cdt (2332 utc), ef0 tornado hit south chicago heights, causing minor damage several homes, 2 homes sustaining significant damage. @ 6:49 pm cdt (2349 utc), ef0 tornado touched down in lansing, damaging tree limbs. in wisconsin, 5 people suffered minor injuries after ef2 tornado went through columbia county. further west, new complex of storms produced 2 tornadoes inside omaha metropolitan area during hours of june 8. total of 539 homeowners reported damage tornadoes. 7 homes destroyed , 21 others sustained major damage. 2 tornadoes hit region rated ef1 and ef2. ef2 tornado strongest strike omaha metropolitan area since 1975.
