as transition season 1 season two, special episode (titled blood) aired pit winning warriors season 1 against 1 another. decided make distinction between ancient , modern warriors due advent of gunpowder changing face of warfare.

for ancient elimination block, warriors assembled included apache, samurai, spartan, shaolin monk, , william wallace. shaolin monk automatically removed running due being passive , lack of armor. william wallace eliminated due lack of formidable long range weaponry, penetrable chainmail. apache taken out lack of armor , armor-penetrating weapons. decided on spartan , samurai, team captains of remaining teams made return retest weapons against different adversaries.

for short-range weapons, samurai katana tested against spartan s short sword, xiphos. footage of tests both previous episodes reviewed. edge given katana slicing through 2 pigs, while xiphos did not go through one. katana had length advantage on xiphos.
for mid-range weapons, samurai s naginata pitted against gel torso wearing spartan cuirass. gel torso mounted on attack bot simulate attacking spartan. naginata failed penetrate target, inflicting dent on spartan cuirass not inflicting enough blunt force trauma break rib. same attack bot outfitted samurai cuirass , tested against spartan s dory spear, not failed penetrate target, severely bent in process. dory spear managed chip outermost layer of lacquer on samurai do, naginata, failed generate enough blunt force trauma break bone behind do. despite this, weapons declared because neither penetrate enemy s armor.
for long-range weapons, both teams reviewed footage of spartan s javelin , samurai s yumi. javelin deemed weapon used against mass formations instead of single enemy, while yumi had speed, killing power, , accuracy. yumi unanimously (including spartan expert) given edge because of high speed , lethal accuracy.
for special weapons, kanabo , spartan shield pitted against each other. while kanabo used in testing did fair structural damage viking shield earlier on in season one, spartan shield solid kanabo damage , unharmed except few dents. impact of kanabo onto spartan shield measured @ 425 psi (2,930 kpa) (roughly 50 psi less generated against viking shield). spartan shield shown powerful weapon ever , therefore given edge.

the modern elimination block included pirate, mafia, spetznaz, , ira. pirate automatically eliminated due weapons being deemed primitive in comparison modern counterparts particularly when geoff compared pirate s flintlock pistol , blunderbuss ira s ar-15. though had .45 caliber thompson submachine gun , sawn-off shotgun, mafia eliminated contention due group not being professionals , of weaponry being improvised. armand mentioned while baseball bat can cause trauma, s useless when there s bullets flying around. spetsnaz chosen hands down disciplined warrior of modern era, while ira deemed unpredictable of group, geoff pointed out ira used weapons had available opposed right tool job , max added weapons acquired black market known being unreliable. due weapon disadvantage, 2 more ira weapons tested pair against 2 existing spetznaz weapons. coincidentally 2 chosen warriors, ira , spetsnaz, modern since pirate during golden age of piracy (1700s) , mafia during prohibition era (1920s).

five spetsnaz soldiers infiltrate warehouse serving ira s headquarters. on top of building, ira sniper spots them , downs 1 of spetsnaz hk g3 sniper rifle. inside, ira member constructing nail bomb hears gunshot , realizes there intruders. ira sniper fires @ spetsnaz soldier, runs behind tree , avoids shot. 4 ira members inside seize weapons , cover. ira sniper tries shoot spetsnaz man behind tree, misses again. spetsnaz sniper sets dragunov sniper rifle. shoots, killing gunman , knocking him off rooftop. signals others clear enter building.

one of them opens door , met gunfire 2 ar-15 armalites. fires ak74 carbine , ducks cover behind drum barrels inside door. spetsnaz soldier gives him covering fire entrance. spetsnaz man on point shoots upward, engaging ira man tries shoot back, armalite malfunctions. without gun, calls other ira man him make run it. leading spetsnaz soldier calls team pursue ira. 2 ira men run spetsnaz rgd-5 grenade explodes , kills 1 of them. other manages escape. 2 spetsnaz soldiers run after him. stop shoot, not realizing there armed nail bomb right behind them. ira man hit, stays on feet. detonates nail bomb remote control, killing 1 of spetsnaz soldiers.

the other follows ira man’s blood trail. enters building, ak74 @ ready. turns corner, ira man jumps him, knocks gun out of spetsnaz s hands , throws him against pillar. ira man tries punch him in face, spetsnaz soldier elbows him in side , applies choke hold. throws ira man floor , brings out ballistic knife. ira man grabs arm overpowered , stabbed in face.

the spetsnaz man gets up, see stream of fire shoot corner. backs away in face of ira member advancing lpo-50 flamethrower. spetsnaz soldier runs nearby room. dead end. ira man sets fire entire room entrance, burning spetsnaz soldier death. nods in satisfaction , turns, find saiga shotgun levelled @ him. terrified, ira man tries bring flamethrower bear, spetsnaz soldier quicker , blows off head.

the spetsnaz soldier makes way lavatory , cautiously opens door. enters spetsnaz leader following behind. suddenly, last ira member jumps out , kills spetsnaz leader s last soldier webley revolver. spetsnaz leader returns fire makarov pistol, misses. ira member takes cover , fires misses well. runs on toilets, dodging gunfire. takes aim , tries fire again. click – out of ammunition. spetsnaz leader charges. ira member desperately pulls trigger again, spetsnaz leader closes, shoves makarov against throat , fires. blood sprays wall ira member slumps onto toilet seat. spetsnaz leader yells out ya spetsnaz! ( spetsnaz ) in victory.

modern winner: spetsnaz
