2014 season
the car made public debut @ 2014 24 hours of le mans, renamed lotus p1/01, however, car not able run in session of event due change in engine car going use. car going use 4-litre, naturally aspirated audi v8, deal collapsed due unknown reasons, , car fitted 2.4-litre twin turbo v6 aer. car made racing debut @ next round of world endurance championship, 6 hours of circuit of americas, car number #9. although car not able qualify, finished event in second place in lmp1-l class, completing 140 laps, 9 laps down on class winning rebellion r-one. @ following race in fuji, car burst flames after 181 laps, after fuel line ruptured. driver of car @ time, christophe bouchut, escaped without injury, left team after race. p1/01 claimed 1 more finish @ following event in shanghai, unable finish @ bahrain or sao paulo.
2015 season
minor changes made p1/01 2015 season, including transmission casing , change bodywork. revised car made debut in march, @ paul ricard circuit. car s number changed #9 #4 season. p1/01 claimed first 2 wins in privateer class, @ nurburgring , @ circuit of americas. however, car excluded results of 24 hours of le mans due incorrect driver weight ballast.
2016 season
the p1/01 returned in 2016, radically changed bodywork in order improve aerodynamics of car. car kept same number previous season, #4. gearbox upgraded 7-speed 6-speed, @ 24 hours of le mans. car struggled reliability issues throughout season, culminating in fires @ 24 hours of le mans , nürburgring. rebellion racing team withdrew 1 of 2 cars championship after nürburgring, leaving 2 cars in class. car managed claim win in 2016 6 hours of shanghai after competing rebellion r-one had technical issues. car finished 2nd in private lmp1 teams championship.
at post season rookie test in bahrain, former formula 1 driver robert kubica tested car.
