the baseball team kent state s second oldest sport, though school s oldest intercollegiate team. formed in 1914, known normal 9 school known kent state normal school. team has enjoyed significant success both in mid-american conference , on national level , has sent several players major leagues on years. team s home field olga mural field @ schoonover stadium, opened in 2005 on site of team s previous home, gene michael field. coach jeff duncan, hired coach after 2013 season. through 2014 season, team has 11 mac east titles, 13 mac regular-season titles, 11 mac tournament titles, , 13 ncaa tournament appearances. in 2012, team made first appearances in both super regional round of ncaa baseball tournament , college world series.
