in 1925 republic national bank ready open doors. on february 15, 1926, republic national bank held first open house. c.d hill never able see creation due death in january 1926. in 1954 bank had outgrown space , moved republic national bank building @ 300 north ervay street. republic national bank vacated premises in december 1954. in june 1954, 1309 main st. building renamed after being purchased longtime chairman wirt davis, percy davis, charles sammons, , h. harrison. in january 1967, plans major renovation of davis building announced modernization of interiors , convert first 4 levels , air-conditioned mall, , further expansion of underground tunnel connect 1 main place , renaissance tower.plans never carried through complete modernization. in august 1986 lenders post davis building in foreclosure funds equaling 18.5 million dollars in 1991 building used in part of set movie touch , die featuring martin sheen. hamilton properties purchased building in 1997 plans renovation apartment lofts. in march 2002, construction loans finalized , new construction commenced. cuppola lit first time in 2003 since 1954, , first occupancy available. newly designed 183 unit lofts in davis building proved successful renovation building.


in may 2011, davis building purchased bascom group.


the davis building dallas landmark , listed on national register of historic places in 2006.
