the district court deals wide range of criminal matters. charges district court cannot deal murder or treason, must dealt supreme court. types of criminal matters dealt district court include:



offences against person: including offences manslaughter, malicious wounding inflict grievous bodily harm , dangerous driving;
assaults: including offences common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm , assault of police officers;
sexual assaults: including offences sexual assault, indecent assault , carnal knowledge;
offences relating property: including offences robbery person, break, enter , steal, larceny (stealing) , embezzlement;
offences involving illicit drug use: including offences importation of heroin , other drugs australia, prohibited supply of drugs , possess prohibited drug; and
offences involving fraud: including offences passing valueless cheques, obtaining money deception , forgery.
