in 1956, cut off church authorities in homeland, remaining russian orthodox believers in seoul merged korean orthodox church, branch of greek orthodox church; 1984, 1 of pre-war russian communicants remained. in 1990s, russian orthodox church outside russia established mission in south korea. both korean orthodox church , korean rocor mission serve ethnic korean believers, though open people of ethnicities.


russians in pyongyang have been served orthodox clergy sent vladivostok since 2002. russian orthodox church opened in pyongyang in 2004 @ order of kim jong-il after visit church of innocent of irkutsk in khabarovsk.
