since beginning, avchd specification had supported 720-line progressive recording mode @ frame rates of 24 , 60 frames/s 60 hz models , 50 frames/s 50 hz models. frame rates of 25 frames/s , 30 frames/s not directly available in 720p mode, can simulated frame repeating, when every frame either repeated twice or special flag in video stream instructs decoder play every frame twice adhere output rate of 50 or 60 frames/s.


many of digital compact cameras made panasonic, such dmc-zs3/dmc-tz7, dmc-ft1, dmc-fz35/dmc-fz38, , dmc-zs-7/tz-10 offer 720p video recording effective frame rate of 25 or 30 frames/s in format called avchd lite (see below).


until advent of avchd progressive mode, native progressive-scan video 1080-line resolution had been available in 24 frames/s variant. in 2010, panasonic introduced new lineup of consumer avchd camcorders 1080-line 50p/60p progressive-scan mode (frame rate depending on region). panasonic advised not players support avchd playback play 1080-line 50p/60p video. in 2011, mode officially included avchd specification part of 2.0 addendum, , has been called avchd progressive. mode uses same avchd folder structure , container files storing video, maximum bitrate of 28 mbit/s. in 2011, sony introduced consumer , professional avchd models capable of avchd progressive recording. in 2012 jvc announced gy-hmq10 model, can record avchd progressive video.
