during morning hours of june 6, 2 strong tornadoes caused damage throughout wadena , hubbard counties in minnesota. first tornado, rated ef2 on enhanced fujita scale, touched down south of stocking lake , downed several trees onto cabins, vehicles , storage sheds. toppled irrigation system in field north of lake. tornado moved north , expanded maximum width of 450 yards (410 m) , reached estimated peak winds of 130 miles per hour (210 km/h). 8 turkey barns destroyed, killing estimated 15 to 20 thousand turkeys. tornado swept home north of area in hubbard county off foundation, causing damage several homes along hundreds of acres of forest. 1 man working @ turkey barn injured. storm produced ef3 tornado, grew width of 400 yards (370 m) , reached wind speeds of 160 miles per hour (260 km/h). @ pickerel lake, flattened every tree in area, while destroying trailer home, camper, garage , house. @ northern sections of pickerel lake, 1 home had roof torn off , numerous trees snapped onto other residences , farm buildings. tornado began lose intensity continued topple trees, damage storage structures , toss debris before dissipating in emmaville.
