he still minor when made senior debut seventeen-year-old in 2004, however, became key member of de la salle team. in 2005 moran lined out in first championship decider de la salle faced ballygunner. narrow 2-10 1-12 defeat moran s lot on occasion.

moran enjoyed success waterford institute of technology (wit) in universities , colleges series of games. in 2006 full-back on wit team took on university college dublin (ucd) in final. 4-13 0-8 trouncing of ucd gave moran fitzgibbon cup medal.

moran made senior debut waterford in national league game against wexford in 2006. later year made championship debut during all-ireland qualifiers.

in 2007 moran still peripheral figure on waterford team. non-playing substitute waterford won national hurling league title following 0-20 0-18 defeat of kilkenny. moran, however, later claimed first munster medal waterford defeated limerick 3-17 1-14 in provincial decider. while waterford viewed possibly going on , winning all-ireland title first time in half century, limerick ambushed moran s side in subsequent all-ireland semi-final.
