Fall of Mosul and the Ninewa Plain Genocide of Christians by ISIL



after fall of mosul, isis demanded assyrian christians living in city convert islam, pay tribute, or face execution, july 19, 2014. isil leader abu bakr al-baghdadi further noted christians not agree follow terms must leave borders of islamic caliphate within specified deadline. resulted in complete assyrian christian exodus mosul, marking end of 1,800 years of continuous christian presence. church mass not held in mosul first time in 1,800 years.

by august 7, isis captured assyrian towns of qaraqosh, tel keppe, bartella, , karamlish, prompting residents flee. more 100,000 iraqi christians forced flee homes , leave property behind after isis invaded qaraqosh , surrounding towns in nineveh plains province of iraq.
