during 2016/2017 closed season there various rumours of possible proposals 2017. after hawk racing s switch bmw suzuki 2017, dunlop signed bennett s suzuki racing team campaigning new suzuki gsx-r1000 part of four-man squad. dunlop concentrate on international road races team mates sylvain guintoli , taylor mackenzie in british superbikes , richard cooper in national superstock 1000.


after introduction new machine @ mallory park, dunlop pre-season tested teammates @ circuito de velocidad de cartagena , almeria in spain 5 days. followed further work @ donington park on 22 march.


isle of man tt

the qualifying week 2017 isle of man tt plagued poor weather. following sporadic week of qualifying first race day given on additional qualifying , practice, meant curtain raiser meeting, superbike tt, postponed 24 hours.


superbike tt

racing got underway on sunday, june 4th. dunlop formed on grid @ tt grandstand on board bennett s suzuki in ideal conditions. setting pace, dunlop crossed line @ head of field @ end of lap 1, posting time of 17 minutes 15.79 seconds standing start, clocking , average speed of 131.135 mph (211.041 km/h). going second lap slender 1.8 second lead on dean harrison, dunlop continued head field until forced retire @ handley s corner.


supersport (race 1)

in opening supersport race, dunlop took place on grid astride familiar md racing yamaha. dicing lead james hillier @ end of opening lap, dunlop came pit stop @ end of lap 2 2.75 second lead. taking second hillier @ end of lap 3, dunlop continued edge ahead on final lap, coming home winning margin of 12.5 seconds.
