the fixtures 2011 season announced on 23 december 2010, , revealed rovers begin league campaign against dundalk @ tallaght stadium on 4 march 2011.


all of opening games league of ireland started @ same time, no team early-head start in title race. dundalk started game off positively goal in 44th minute jason byrne. but, 2 minutes later, gary mccabe scored on league debut rovers. in second half, shamrock rovers dominated game. in under 10 minutes, rovers topscorer gary twigg scored twice win game shamrock rovers. 3-1 win put rovers third place in league table @ end of first round of league games.


rovers next match came following saturday, away sligo rovers. shamrock rovers started off , in 6th minute, gary mccabe scored rebound against former club. shamrock rovers remained dominant rest game , defended sligo rovers had give. win made 2 out of 2 wins shamrock rovers.

shamrock rovers, along other 20 league of ireland clubs, entered 2011 fai cup in third round, draw made on 9 may 2011. rovers drawn @ home first division side athlone town. goals gary mccabe, chris turner, dean kelly , billy dennehy gave rovers 4–0 victory , ensured place in next round. replay required determine winner of fourth round tie between rovers , ucd after first match ended in 2–2 draw. having played partizan belgrade away in europa league 4 days previously, manager o neill decided alter starting line-up. after goalless first half contained chances both sides, rovers took lead through karl sheppard in 61st minute. ciarán kilduff doubled rovers advantage, samir belhout pulled goal away side. pat flynn, rovers captain on night, sent off in 80th minute cynical block on ucd player last man. ucd scored resulting free-kick earn replay @ home ground. draw quarter-finals made before replay; winner face either sligo rovers or monaghan united, had drawn fourth round tie. replay more one-sided affair rovers won 6–0, billy dennehy socring hat-trick.

shamrock rovers, along st patrick s athletic in pool 3, received bye second round of 2011 league of ireland cup, draw made on 30 march 2011. shamrock rovers given away tie against dublin rivals st patrick s athletic.

shamrock rovers began campaign in leinster senior cup in fourth round. in draw round, took place on 20 january, rovers paired dundalk. match played on 22 february @ oriel park, before start of league season. gary o neill scored opening goal in 35th minute put shamrock rovers ahead. dundalk had several opportunities draw level in second half, although game finished 2–0 following stephen o donnell s goal in 78th minute.


rovers given away tie against bohemians in quarter-finals. bohemians had been due play sporting fingal in previous round, received bye opposition club dissolved.


the highly anticipated match took place on 4 july @ dalymount park. first half entertaining battle between both sides , in 43rd minute, dean kelly scored put rovers ahead. on in second half, ryan mcevoy scored level tie. after many chances both sides, match forced enter time. in 124th minute of time, kevin feely got goal put bohemians ahead. goal enough separate sides , thus, eliminated shamrock rovers competition.
