according u.s. census bureau, county has total area of 906 square miles (2,350 km), of 822 square miles (2,130 km) land , 84 square miles (220 km) (9.3%) water.


solano county has several inactive cinnabar mines including hastings mine , st. john s mine, both of subject ongoing mercury monitoring. these mines worked in first half of twentieth century.
