as dean of new york university school of commerce, accounts , finance, joseph french johnson had many years continually received letters requesting advice on read on business. these demands came not young men, mature , able executives, , successful business leaders. such requests dean johnson obliged reply practical way study fundamental principles of business in systematic manner attend lectures in university schools of commerce.

in selecting name, agreed none suitable of alexander hamilton. hamilton perhaps chiefly remembered masterly statesmanship; equally conspicuous soldier, financier, author, organizer , practical economist.

he without doubt greatest manager ever employed united states government. when became first secretary of treasury, found chaotic government, without money, without credit, , without organization. secured order, provided funds , created prosperity. investigated industries , directed commercial development of united states. touched dead corpse of public credit, , sprang upon feet. smote rock of nation s resources , abundant streams of revenue gushed forth.
